Teaching Philosophy
Melody Paws Studio

...just like home!

As an educator I seek to empower students to be adventurous with their creativity, to inspire their musical aspirations, and learn life skills through music. Music is human; it is already a part of our daily lives. We hear it in the elevator, grocery store, and in our movies. It links us to memories, places, and emotions. The most important goal in my studio is to further open this world to students. This is accomplished through goal oriented lessons that are flexible; allowing for opportunities of creativity and exploration. Non-traditional methods are used to challenge students but also create a fun learning environment that will keep them engaged. Other critical skills that I strive to teach all of my students include independent learning, personal responsibility, professionalism, and self motivation.

Through studio recitals, community performances, and events, students will have many performing opportunities. Ensemble playing is highly encouraged as well to help build other skills that are not so easily addressed in a private setting. Having a diverse studio can enhance learning in an ensemble environment; presenting students with new perspectives. Students of all ages and backgrounds can participate in music making and are encouraged to do so. It is my hope that when students leave my studio they are well prepared to continue their musical development and that they learned life skills that allow them to be successful in other aspects of their lives.
